We've hit the end of August, and to celebrate both the end of the month and the end of drAUGUSTore, I'll share my top 10 favourite products from the drugstore, which was terribly hard to narrow down but somehow I managed to do it.
1. Real Techniques Buffing Brush: This brush is the only face brush you'll ever need. It is perfect for blending in liquid foundation and making it look flawless, but it is also great at buffing in powder foundation, or when there's too much bronzer or blush on the skin, it's also great at buffing everything in and making it all look more natural. Unfortunately, it only comes in their core collections set and not as a stand alone brush, but it's still really great value.
2. Maxfactor Facefinity Primer: I may have mentioned this in a previous favourites, but this primer has been on my face all month. It smoothes over the skin making a really nice base for foundation to stick to, making my foundation really power through the day.
3. L'Oreal True Match Foundation: The ultimate drugstore foundation. I have a lot of favourites when it comes to drugstore foundations, but I think this is the one that's perfect for everyone. It has a really thin texture which makes it really light on the skin, while still giving a good medium coverage. It doesn't settle into any pores or fine lines and has a bit of a satin finish so that you don't look totally matte and flat. It also lasts really well on my skin and I've really been enjoying this one recently. They have recently repackaged it and changed the formula though, so I'm not sure how the new one compares.
4. Maybelline Better Skin Concealer: Most people will say the other Maybelline concealer is better, but I must admit that I prefer this one. It has a really creamy consistency which blends into the skin really nicely, and has a slight pink tone to it, making it really good for those stubborn undereye circles. It is also supposed to help fight breakouts, and while I haven't really noticed a difference there, it's definitely an excellent concealer.
5. Bourjois Health Balance Powder: I'm not the biggest powder person, but this is definitely one of my favourites. It is incredibly fine and very lightweight so it doesn't feel heavy or cakey on the skin, while still doing a really good job of mattifying and making foundation stay put all day long.
6. Maybelline Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow: This is probably the ultimate and most iconic cream eyeshadow from the drugstore. It's not a very soft, creamy cream eyeshadow so it is a little difficult to blend out on the lid, but it has phenomenal lasting power and is really nicely pigmented. Perfect for lazy makeup days. This one is probably the most famous one in Bad to the Bronze, and it's definitely my favourite of the bunch as well.
7. Maxfactor Creme Puff Blush: These are quite comparable to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes in that they're both glowy, veined blushes. It gives a lovely subtle flush to the skin with a little bit of a sheen to it, which means highlighter can be skipped. You just cannot overapply this blush, it's beautiful.
8. Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Colours: Lipsticks like this are definitely a love of mine, they're like a lipstick and a lip pencil combined into one. These Maybelline lipsticks are beautiful, in both the texture and the pigment of the product. They're creamy enough to be applied easily on the lips without tugging, but dry enough to have really good staying power. They all have a matte finish, and come in a variety of different shades.
9. Nyx Dewy Makeup Setting Spray: I've probably never mentioned this on the blog, but I really love facial mists and setting sprays, especially because my skin is quite dry. This setting spray does a good job of improving the longevity of my makeup, while providing a little boost of moisture and dewiness to the skin.
10. Essie Nail Polish: Finally, my favourite nail polish brand, possibly ever. Essie polishes have a good formula, so I never have a problem with it chipping easily on my nails. They have an incredible shade range, with limited edition collections as well, so they're a little bit of something for everyone. What I love the most is that recently they've changed the shape of the applicator brush so that it's just a little bit flatter and wider which makes it so much easier to apply.
And that's it, folks! That's the end of drAUGUSTore I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed collating and writing up the posts, and who knows, you might see it again next year!
