Rainy Day Beauty

If you're a Sydneysider, you now that it's been raining non-stop for about four days straight, and not only has it been absolutely pouring down, it's raining sideways. It's weather like this that makes you want to stay curled up in bed all week. Unfortunately, uni and work calls, and you're going to have to drag yourself away from the warm comfort of your duvet and into the freezing cold. If you're anything like me, it's days like this that I want to look radiant, just because I feel like utter crap.

My number one tip for rainy day weather is fresh glowy skin. I feel like that may be a staple in my beauty wardrobe, but I think it's especially important in grey cloudy weather. It instantly adds a little life and light to my skin, which looks about as dull as the skies. I'm loving the Mary Lou-Manizer from The Balm (which is strangely not on the David Jones website... did they stop selling it?!). It gives a gorgeous golden glow to the face.

During the winter months, I also like to use a darker blush. The one I've been reaching for is the Nars blush in Almeria, which is quite a deep rosy tan shade. It was limited edition, but the Nars blush in Taos is quite similar, although it has a bit of shimmer in it. I like to focus my blush on the high points of my cheekbone and sweep upwards, like my bronzer. It brings a bit more attention to my non-existant cheekbones and give the illusion of a slimmer face. Because my face is so round, I think blush on the apples of my cheeks tends to drag my whole face down.

Recently I've been into juicy, glossy lips, which for me is a far cry from me. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 06 is just the perfect browny-nude to make me look really put together, but effortless at the same time. But if that's not your cup of tea, the cooler weather calls for berry lips to make an appearance. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I quite like the Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in 310 Berry Much. It's a bit more purple than I usually like, but it's matte and looks like I've put a lot more effort into my makeup than I actually have.

Hopefully, some of my tips will make you feel better in the morning to get you through your day. And let's hope the weather clears up soon! I could never make in London...
