Empties #2

I'm not kidding when I say these empties have been piling up so so long that I'm not sure I remember when I finished some of these. But it's finally time for me to empty this giant bag of trash. Not that I particularly think people want to see it?

Let's start with the boring hair care empties. Yes, I use shampoo. So I've finished the Tresemme Volume and Lift shampoo and conditioner and also the Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo and conditioner. I have to admit, I'm not terribly fussed about my shampoo or conditioner. As long as it cleans my hair then it's good enough for me. In saying that, I didn't really like the Tresemme one. Maybe because it was a giant bottle and took me an absolute age to finish it, so I felt like my hair had sort of built up a resistance to its cleansing power. That or I'm going crazy. I liked the Herbal Essences one enough; the scent was nice though it was nothing particularly special.

You may also be able to tell that I go through dry shampoo like no other, which is why there are FIVE empty cans of dry shampoo here. Three of them are the Batiste dry shampoo. There are people that swear by Batiste, but personally I'm not the biggest fan. I mean, it's cheap and it gets the job done, but it always makes my hair feel chalky. I'm also not a massive fan of the tropical scent, so definitely no further purchases of that one. I also finished a can of the V05 Plump It Up dry shampoo which is supposed to be volumising and texturising as well as making my hair look clean. It's pretty good though it doesn't leave my hair feeling clean for very long. It definitely gives more volume and texture than the Batiste ones and it has the nicest scent to it. I could just smell it for ages. Lastly, I finished a can of the Polished London dry shampoo in the Bristol Bloom scent. I quite liked this one. It didn't leave my hair feeling as chalky as the Batiste one and I felt it did a better job than the V05 one as well.

Now onto the fun stuff. First up, I finished a bottle of the Body Shop Grapefruit shower gel. It leaves my skin feeling really nice a clean, but not stripped. And to be honest, that scent is amazing. I'm using another one right now except in the limited edition peach scent and my gosh it's mindblowing nice. I just leave peach scents.

I also finished a bottle of Bioderma, which is one of my favourite ways to remove makeup. I do tend to use it as the first step of my makeup removal routine as I feel like it does tend to leave traces of product behind, but if I work it in well enough then most of my heavy duty eye makeup does come off, which is a pretty impressive feat. It does leave my skin feeling a little bit dry though, so I definitely need to go in with a moisturiser afterwards,

I also finished an Innisfree It's A Real Squeeze rose sheet mask. I'm not really into Korean skincare but this suckered me in. Look how gorgeous that package is, and I just love rose scented things. In all honesty though, I wasn't the biggest fan of the mask. My face feels really strange under giant sheets of cloth and I just don't like the feeling of it stuck to my skin. I also felt like whatever was in the mask irritated my skin so instead of feeling nice and hydrated and nourished, my skin just felt angry. On the plus side, it smelled absolutely amazing.

Another finished skincare product was the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. This was the smaller jar with only 25 pads. I honestly really loved this stuff. They were small textured pads soaked in a chemical exfoliator solution that removed dead skin cells and brightened the face. It didn't irritate my skin and took so little time to use as well. Which is why I have a full sized jar of this stuff sitting on my vanity now, almost half empty. I don't use it everyday, but maybe every second or third day to remove from nasty gunk from my skin.

I also finished up a bottle of the Antipodes Apostle Skin Brightening serum. I did really like this toner. It smelt like berries and felt qute nourishing on the skin. I'm not sure I noticed a massive difference in the tone of my skin or any sort of dark spot reduction, but I like it well enough. I'm not using it now just because I want to try out new products and not keep buying new things when I still have old products to test out, but I'll probably buy some more later on.

Also finished is a jar of the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly, which is their version of their famous hydraluron serum but as a face moisturiser. I liked it at the time as I felt it provided decent hydration andfelt really nice and cooling on the skin. It doesn't feel tacky so it's a pretty good base for makeup as well. My only gripe is that it doesn't have SPF, so it's super important to be using a facial sunscreen with this. I'm almost through with another one of these, but I'm looking for something a little thicker that will give me more intense hydration than this one gives me.

The last skincare product I finished is a tub of the Body Shop Body Butter. This is the olive version (obviously) and I absolutely loved it. It was super thick and hydrating and the scent of it was quite nice a fresh as well. To be honest, I'm quite surprised I like the scent at all since I don't like the taste or smell of actual olives or olive oil, but hey you never know. I also like how this one is targeted specifically for those with more dry skin which is exactly what I need. The one that I'm using now is more more those with normal skin and I just don't feel like it's doing enough for me. I have a new one of these all lined up and ready to go.

Moving onto a transition between skincare and beauty, I finished up an Etude House lip balm in #02 Strawberry. Etude House is a Korean brand and I think I've had this lip balm for ages. Not joking, it could possibly be 5 years old, which sounds absolutely disgusting. It was actually a gift from a friend and I really enjoyed this balm. It smelt like strawberries which I enjoyed and actually moisturised the lips, rather than just putting greasy layer of petroleum all over them.

And finally onto the makeup! It's just sad odds and ends of eyeliners, because they are definitely the easiest products to finish. First off we have the Maybelline Master Precise black liquid liner. This was my holy grail years ago. It's actually not bad for a drugstore liner that doesn't break the bank. However since then I discovered a couple of high-end ones and I much prefer those. In saying that, I finished up two of my favourite Stila Stay All Day liners, one in black and one in dark brown. I was actually devastated when I finished both of these up because I honestly love them so much. I use the dark brown one when I'm in the mood for more of a subtle, more natural liner look. And that black liner is just incredible. It's so intensely black and easy to use.

That's it! I can finally throw these empties out so they stop collecting dust on my bathroom floor. It'll probably be ages before the next empties, so look forward to the next post (which is possibly maybe a haul?!)
