Organise Your Year

I have a problem where I love buying and using organisational things like planners and calenders. I’ve heard it’s the virgo in me. So to mark the new year, I though I’d share some organisational tips and some of the things I've bought and use to help me out.

First thing’s first is the beautiful 2015 diary that I bought from Kikki.K (in August or something). And I'm pretty sure I've actually mentioned it quite a lot over the last month or so because I've finally been able to start using it. It's a gorgeous black leather bound daily diary with gold embossing on the cover. It also comes in a variety of different colours.

Keeping on the calendar trend, I have two. The first is a desk calendar that stays on my desk (obviously) where I write all my different appointments and reminders. It's quite girly and each month has a different background. It's also quite large, so I can get away with writing a lot of things. On the other hand, my other calendar is a DC Comics wall calendar that is used in the same way as the desk calendar. I have to admit it's my favourite calendar.  Both of them are from Typo, though I'm not sure if it's still possible to get either of them.

I also love using planners. Both of mine are from Kikki.K. The first is a weekly planner where I write out all my reminders a notes for the week in a lot more depth than I note on my calendars. I also write all my notes and plans for the day on it. It stays on my desk all the time and I look at it every morning to see what I have planned out. The other one is a daily planner that I also use to write out everything that I have planned out or things that I want to do or buy. I don't actually use it as a daily planner, but it's a great tool to keep my thought in check so I don't forget anything.

I do have plans to buy a couple more list making tools, but I'm still looking for cute ones. The best stationery stores are definitely Typo and Kikki.K. They both sell beautifully designed stationary; Typo tends to sell more youthful, trendy pieces whereas Kikki.K sells more elegant and sophisticated pieces. It's also a lot more expensive than Typo.

A couple of tips that I have for organising your life is to write everything down. Everything that you want to do, things you want to buy and all appointments and reminders. It helps you keep track of your life and ensures you aren't forgetting anything along the way. I'm famous for forgetting to do things (like post blog posts) so writing down my thoughts and planning in advance really helps keep me on track.

Also when I write out my plans, I categorise the reminders and appointments on my calendars by using different coloured pens. So my work arrangements are purple, uni reminders are green, blog plans are pink and so on. Therefore a quick glance at my planners let me know what I need to do for the day.

Another tip is to write reminders on sticky notes and leave them in places where you'll see them. I stick them on my laptop and on my computer because I live on them and I'm guaranteed to see them if they're there. I also stick them on the front of my diary because it forces me to look at them. Also, I use brightly coloured notes. Not only are they prettier than your standard boring yellow notes, they're also more attention grabbing and you're more likely to notice them.

And those are my tips for organising your new year! Hopefully it'll keep all of us on track.
