Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Eyeshadow Review

Sorry I've been a little MIA recently. There's just been a lot on my plate, juggling work and... that's about it really, but it's sapping the life (and time) out of me. But I'm back! After this will be December favourites and then a wrap up of my favourite products over 2014! But until then, I hope a review of something that I promised to review ages ago will suffice.

The Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Eyeshadows are this little strange bottle filled with coconut water and pigment. I'm not sure if it comes under the category of cream eyeshadow, or is it in a category on its own? To use it, you'll need to seriously shake the bottle to get the pigment and the water to mix together. It requires some serious shaking, which is a sort of downside, but I find it quite enjoyable and in all honestly it's just like an arm workout! Anyway, to apply the pigment, the lid comes with this slanted doe-foot applicator which you just take straight onto the eye to apply the shadow.
The two colours I have photographed above are Bora Bora Bronze and Beach Sands. Bora Bora Bronze is a deep, rich red-bronze shade and Beach Sands is a bronzey gold shade. All the colours in the range have a metallic finish. The pigmentation on the shadows, once you get it all shaken up, is incredible. They have insane colour payoff and just one swipe is all you'll need. Not only that but they last for ages as well; if you apply it in the morning it'll look exactly the same in the evening.

One of the few downsides are that the shadows are not waterproof. They will run everywhere if they come into contact with water, so they're definitely not the best for situations when you think it's going to rain or anywhere else where you'll encounter water on your face. Also, they set quite quickly on the eye, so you'll need to work fast to blend it out.

Hold on, that's the mailman.

And I'm back! Overall, I think these shadows are great. They're perfect for a really easy smokey eye and are super quick and easy to use. I tend to just shake it in one hand while I'm using the other to do something else (like typing this post). I've also since bought the shade Rio De Rose Gold which is a gorgeous coppery rose gold shade which I've featured in my collective haul and summer edit post, and it'll probably be in a future post as well (hint hint). They retail for $22 from Mecca.
