Sick Days

So I've been feeling a little under the weather lately. Or you could say a lot under the weather. I blame it on the changing seasons, as I do every year. Either way, when you're feeling a little disgusting, you don't want to be scaring the children. So this is what I reach for if I absolutely have to roll out of bed and leave the house.

Illuminator is one of your biggest friends. There's something about glowy fresh skin that just makes you look more alive and perky. I know that when you're sick, your skin feels a little dull and flat, so this gives a little more life back to the face. I like the Revlon Skinlights in 100 Bare Light as it gives a light golden glow to the skin which looks really nice and natural. There aren't any chunky glitter pieces in the formula as well which makes it really nice and subtle. And because I just can't get enough highlight, I also use the Topshop illuminator in Crescent Moon which gives an iridescent pinky glow to the cheeks that looks really beautiful.

Another thing that looks great on pasty, dull sick skin is blush. It adds a little colour to the face to liven things up a little and brighten the complexion. I'm loving the Stila Convertible Colour in Petunia because the gorgeous pink colour makes the skin look health and flushed, and it's a perfect colours for spring.

To tie everything together, I liked to wear a bright lip colour, to keep attention away from my sickly state and more towards the nice pretty lipstick I'm sporting. A recent favourite of mine has been the Maybelline Vivids lipstick in Vibrant Mandarin, which is no where near as orange in real life as it is in the picture. The colour is more of a slightly muted neon coral pink, if that makes any sense. I really love the colour of this. It's been in my stash for a while and I wish I pulled it out earlier.

And lastly, to top of my tips for hiding the sickly state, I recommend spritzing on some perfume, because there's nothing like your favourite perfume to pick you up off the ground. Mine is Versace Bright Crystal, which I absolutely adore. As the world's worst perfume describer, it is quite zingy and fresh, but also quite floral. Google says it has top notes of yuzu and pomegranate, middle notes of lotus, magnolia and peony, and base ntes of musk, mahogany and amber. Yum, now that sounds beautiful. I spritz some of this all over and I'm out the door, ready to be sick in the real world.

That's what I do when I'm sick. I'd love to know your tips and tricks for looking alive while feeling (and possibly looking) like a cast member from the Walking Dead. Until next time!
