This blush has been floating around the blogosphere for a
while, and all I’ve heard are good reviews. Obviously that is good enough
motivation to buy it and give it a try myself.
The Benefit Majorette blush is a peach coloured cream blush.
The packaging is nothing short of adorable. Apparently it’s supposed to look
like a drum, but I think it looks more like a cookie or macaroon. When you open
it up, there’s a little mirror and a mound of the product. It also has a
wonderful peach scent that is absolutely to die for. I’ve never had a blush
smell so damn good. It also doesn’t come with a brush. The only issue I have
with the packaging is that it’s hugely bulky and not the most space saving, so
it’s not the best product to take away for travelling, or for storing. The
product itself though is worth it.
Colourwise, the pigmentation is great. It doesn’t apply as
brightly as it looks in the pan, but it’s easily built up. It gives a beautiful
peachy flush to the skin. It’s marketed as a booster blush, which means it can
be worn under other blushes to boost the colour of it. It definitely does look
beautiful under other blushes. I’d recommend sticking with peach, coral or pink
blush shades. I feel it wouldn’t give the right effect under a deeper berry
blush. It also performs really well as a blush by itself though, so there’s
definitely no need to layer it.
The formulation of the blush is a cream-to-powder finish. I
was worried it was going to be really chalky, but it’s far from it. It also
doesn’t smear any liquid or powder product beneath it, which is also a huge
plus. It lasts for quite a while on my skin and doesn’t seem to get patchy or
uneven.
The only issue I have with this blush is the price. Benefit
blushes are expensive. This blush
retails for $51 in Myer, and compared to Nars blushes, which are $39, it is an
exorbitant price. So if it’s not something that you’re absolutely dying for,
try another blush. Revlon have a cream blush that is a similar colour and
finish to this one. It’s not as beautiful, but with the price difference, it’s
not bad either. However the blush itself is beautiful, so maybe just chalk up
the purchase as a gift for yourself. Or wait for a sale…
