A couple of notes before we get into the nitty gritty of this post, Number one - if you don't know it yet, I adore Christmas sets. They're incredible value for money and they let you try a little bit of everything without completely investing in full sized products. Point number two is that I absolutely adore Stila products, especially their eye products as they are consistently good quality. And on that note, let's get into the review.
I purchased two of Stila's Christmas sets this year. The first is the Eternally Yours liquid lipstick set, a set of six mini sized liquid lipsticks. They’re the perfect size to test products out, as they’re especially small – and let’s face it, who actually finishes a lipstick anyway? So they come in the shades Caramello (pinky nude), Patina (natural pink), Aria (berry pink), Como (bright fuschia purple), Chianti (deep burgundy) and Fiery (true red). They’re actually really nice and comfortable to wear for a super matte liquid lipstick. Obviously they’re a little bit drying, but nothing too uncomfortable or unbearable. The lasting power is, of course, incredible as the greasy pasta I ate while wearing this will attest to. And while there are a couple shades I won’t get as much wear out of as the others (ahem, Como), it’s still a really nice set to test out the products.
The other set I purchase has got to be one of my favourites. It’s the Stila Sending My Love set. It comes with five eyeshadows, a blush, bronzer and highlighter, a lip glaze and a smudgestick. I’ve probably already mentioned quite a few times how much I enjoy the smudgestick, so I won’t rave on anymore. The eyeshadows, like all Stila shadows, are buttery, soft and beautifully pigmented. They work well together create a really nice smokey eye, but can also be used to create a subtle daytime look. And I love the addition of the purple shadow, Sangria, as it adds a fun pop of colour to an otherwise very neutral palette. The blush and the bronzer are also pretty good, but the star of the show is that highlighter. It is a tiny square of perfectly packed highlighting goodness that give a gorgeous golden glow to all that it touches. The only thing I haven’t tried is the lip glaze, but that’s really because I don’t like lip glosses that much, so it may end up being a gift to someone who does.
I hope to get a lot of wear out of these in the future. I know what I'm using for those Christmas parties...
