Monthly Favourites #9

You know the drill by now. it's the end of another month and that means another monthly favourites.

You'll also probably know that I've been pretty MIA this month. Work has just sapped the life out of me. It also sapped the life out of my beauty motivation. I didn't buy that many new things, didn't try anything new. My makeup routine became incredibly minimal and I barely changed up my routine. However near the end a few little things sneaked in so we're going to talk about some of the only beauty products I've used over the last month!

First up is SPF. Sydney summers have officially ended and the weather has taken it as an excuse to change 36 degree weather into 20 degree weather in a couple of hours (really it has - here's a whole article on it). Either way, I feel like SPF is a vital thing when it comes to a good skincare regime. I've been using the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Clear Face Sunscreen Lotion. It's different from it's predecessor because the consistency is a lot more liquidy and easier to apply. However it does leave a bit of a tackier finish, so it's vital to let it sink into the skin for a good ten minutes before any sort of makeup application. It doesn't break me out and it seems to be doing a pretty good job so far.

A new purchase of mine is the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in 53 Beige Clair which has been pretty raved about on the blogosphere. And as a person on the hunt for a great drugstore powder, this was right up my alley. It's quite a sheer powder so the shades aren't really a problem. It's also scented, but I quite like that. The best thing about it though is that it sets and mattifies face makeup while also making it look amazingly natural. It really does live up to its hype. I also like the slim, no-nonsense packaging which makes it perfect handbag material.

Moving onto more new releases, the Maxfactor Excess Shimmer in 25 Bronze has been an absolute love of mine. The texture of these is quite different from the other cream shadows I've tried and it's just so beautiful and easy to apply. I'll have a review of these up soon, hopefully sometime in the next week.

The Bourjois Beauty'Full Volume mascara has been my go-to mascara this month. It's not necessarily the best mascara I've ever tried, but I quite like the look it gives. It gives good length and volume to my lashes, but still looks quite natural. The effect is quite similar to the Tarte Gifted mascara, but the formula is a little wetter. I'm quite anxious to see if it'll improve when the formula dries out a little. Mascaras are a little like wine, they do tend to get better with age.

And finally, the bold lip bug has hit me again this month, mainly because it's the easiest thing to spice up a look while putting in as little effort as possible. #lazygirlmakeup. I've been loving the Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in 560 Live It Up which is just a beautiful classic red. I have to say that these are a great product and I'm definitely very tempted to go out and buy the whole range. They're creamy, easy to apply and have decent staying power on the lips. They're also wonderfully matte and very affordable. I'll also (hopefully) have a review of this coming up in the next few weeks. Have you noticed a very noticeable presence of lip product reviews?

That's the picks for this month! Hopefully March will be a more exciting beauty month for me. Or not, considering uni is starting up again today actually and I'm working less and trying to juggle the expectations of an overachieving asian (myself) with me desire to be a blob for the rest of my life... All well. Until next time friends!
