Nars Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret Review

This was one of the christmas sets I was most anxious for. The Nars Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret is a set of five of their famous lip pencils incased in this gorgeous acrylic box with this white laser cut patterning. It's supposed to look like snowflakes. All I know is that the packaging is so beautiful it's to die for. I'm honestly considering just buying more of their products just for more of these beautiful acrylic boxes.

The set comes with three of their satin pencils and two of their famous velvet matte lip pencils, all in a jumbo-mini size. Three of the shades are limited edition while two are permanent. The three satin finish ones are Descanso (LE), Torres del Paine (LE) and Yu. The two velvet matte shades are Iberico (LE) and Cruella.
Descanso is described as a "tea rose" and is a soft muted peachy pink with a satin finish that looks almost nude on my lips. Torres del Paine is described as a "peach coral" and looks like a peachy orange on the lips and clashes terribly with my skin tone. It's not a colour I can pull off sadly. Iberico is described as an "intense coral" that applies like a matte orangey red dream. Cruella is one of Nars' most famous Velvet Matte pencils. It's described as a "passionate scarlet red" and is like a dark vampy red with cool undertones. Yu is a satin finish pencil, described as "shocking pink". It applies as a bright fucshia pink and is a gorgeous statement lip.

In general, the satin finish pencils gave a semi opaque coverage to the lips that allowed my natural lip colours (or lack thereof) to come through, but could be built up to have more pigmentation. However, Yu was insanely opaque and there were no issues with pigmentation there. They were lightly hydrating on the lips and lasted for quite some time without reapplying, maybe around three or four hours. Yu lasted for a little bit longer and left a nice pink stain behind on the lips. All the shades had a really creamy texture which made them a dream to apply as they just glided over the lips so easily.

The Velvet Matte pencils gave a really nice opaque finish to the lips and had a creamy consistency which made it just as easy as the satin pencils to apply. It also meant it didn't skip or drag over the lips during application. The colour of these lasted a lot longer, maybe six to eight hours, depending on how much you eat or drink with it on, and they both leave a bit of a stain behind as well. However by the end of its wear it does get a little drying which is the only downside.

Overall, this set is a phenomenal product of dreams. It's a great gift for a close friend and an even better gift for yourself. For me, it was an amazing introduction into the world of Nars lip pencils and I definitely see myself going back to buy some more shades. The best thing about this is the size which gives a great amount of product, even if they are smaller than the original size. Also, because more than half the shades are limited edition, they're a great gift for someone even if you know they have a load of other lip products. So rush out and buy yourself some of these! They're just too good to pass up. Though I felt like I've said that a lot over the last few posts. It retails for $65 at Mecca.
