During the wintertime my lips go into meltdown. Or more like drydown. They get crackly and peely and I need to really give them some TLC to get them feeling soft and nourished. So I like to try out a multitude of different products to make them feel loved and cared for.
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub: this is the scrub I use to get rid of all the dead skin. It smells great and tastes even better, but if you're feeling weirded out about eating your own dead skin cells (yucky!) you can always just wash it off. The biggest challenge with this is making sure you don't just eat it when you scoop it up on your finger. The oils in in are super moisturising even as it's slowly filing away the ickiness on your lips.
Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm: at first this lip balm has a really strange consistency. It's quite thick and feels almost spongy and when I first put it on my lips, I kept smacking them together. But because it's so thick and nourishing, it really stays on all night. I put a layer of it on before bed and in the morning my lips feel soft and plump and seriously moisturised.
Lucas Paw Paw Ointment: every Australian knows what this is. This is the miracle balm of nourishment and moisture. It even works well on cuts and mosquito bites. But the most common use is as a lip balm. I use it when I'm not wearing any sort of lip product and I just want nice moisturised lips. The consistency is quite thick, not so much as the Reve de Miel, but thick enough that you don't want to be putting lipsticks over it. It's also quite glossy and slippy so your lipstick will just fall off if you layer it on top. But I does give some incredible moisture to the lips and leaves them feeling hydrated for hours.
Nivea Repair and Protect: This is usually what I have under my lipstick and in my handbag at all times. It's quite balmy, but definitely not shiny, and I feel I creates a nice hydrating barrier around the lips to stop any moisture form evaporating away. It's so convenient because of it's stick form and is one of the best ones I've used, mainly because it doesn't leave my lips feeling greasy, which I hate. And it also has SPF! I also realised I've had mine for so long they've changed the packaging. Oops.
