Monthly Favourites #8

And the first month of 2015 has flown by. I feel like I've accomplished nothing this month, and I suppose this monthly favourites proves it. I don't have much here because I haven't really tried anything new or gone out wearing anything new, so we'll see how this goes. I say that but just thinking about the money I've spent this month makes me want to be comatose.

I've tried to up my skincare game over the last month. Masks and serums have been a serious focus for me. You may remember me buying the Jurlique Fruit Enzyme exfoliator. It's a chemical exfoliator which you apply onto clean skin and leave for a few minutes. It does tingle a little bit so you know it's breaking down the dead cells on the surface of your skin but afterwards it leaves my skin feeling so soft, almost like it's new again. Makes me wonder why I put off using this for months, especially now that I know it's being discontinued. Maybe I should go out and find another one.

Another mask I've been using is the GlamGlow Youthmud. It smells like green tea and actually had large tea leaves within it which I love. I apply it just to my T-zone and leave it on my skin for ages, allowing the mask to suck up some of that icky excess oil from my face. Then I scrub it off and the gritty texture exfoliates as well. Yep, that's a theme here. I also really like the Supermud mask and almost had a heart attack at the amount of oil it dredged from my face. Thank goodness it's gone now, and my pores have never looked cleaner.

I also decided to try out the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair as a serum. It's quite a thick orange gel but a couple of drop massaged into the skin for a few night really made a huge difference in the texture of my skin. It felt softer and more hydrated, and a few of my dark hyperpigmented spots started to fade a little more as well. Can't praise this product enough. And it should be praised - cost me a small fortune.

I've been rotating my foundation as well and rediscovered my Benefit Hello Flawless foundation in the shade Petal I'm Plush and Precious . I love the shade name, and I think the packaging is adorable too. It's also quite a high SPF for a foundation, which I've been layering on top of my normal sunscreen, which I mentioned in a previous post about sun protection (linked here). It has a lightweight consistency and therefore a light coverage as well which can be built up to almost medium. What I love is that it's so quick and easy to apply. I just dab it on my face and blend it in with my Louise Young LY34 brush and bam, done in less than 10 seconds. Great for early mornings.

Finally, I've also rediscovered another old favourite of mine. It's so well loved that every single bit of the labelling has worn off., but I still remember the entire name and the shade. It's the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey. It's so nourishing and balmy on the lips, which means it's really comfortable to wear, and the colour is this perfect, almost plum shade that just adds the right amount of colour to my face. Throw in the ease of application because it's a giant crayon and we're talking absolute must have lip product. Mine looks terrible though so we'll keep the lid on...
