And now it's September. Let's not get into where the month has
gone. Onto a random and totally unrelated note, I keep typing favourites as
favourites. Don't know why I think that's funny. Moving on. On with another
instalment of monthly favourites!
My first favourite is the Real Techniques Miracle ComplexionSponge. I’ve always loved the natural dewy look that the Beauty Blender gives,
but it’s too hard (and expensive) to get my hands on that. So I went with this
one because I heard it was quite similar. And I was not disappointed. It gives
a beautiful natural finish to the skin and makes it look bright and dewy. The
shape of it makes it super easy to blend it out, with the flat side for larger
surfaces and the small pointy side for concealer or around the nose and under
the eyes. My only gripe is that it’s so hard to clean and it takes forever to
dry. If you have any tips or tricks to wash these, please let me know.
The next favourite is the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette. I did a
review of it here, but I had a few palettes to play with and this one hadn’t
really stuck with me yet. This month, I’ve been using this so much. It’s a
beautiful palette with every colour that you’d ever need. I won’t go into it
too much, but my favourite colours are Nudie and Silk Teddy. They’re just so
stunning.
I’ve been really trying to up my brow game and make sure it stays
there all day. This month I’ve been
using the Stila Stay All Day waterproof brow colour in Dark Brown. It has a
brush tip and you just draw the brows on. It’s a little fiddly to get them to
look natural, and you absolutely must use a spooley to come through the brows
but once the colour has dispersed and set, it is so long lasting and just
doesn’t move all day. It gives quite a
stark look though so it’s probably best for a night look for someone that’s not
used to dark brows or doesn’t wear a lot of makeup.
My next favourite comes as a pair. I love a good contour to carve
some shape into my giant circular face. So I’ve been applying the Benefit Hoolabronzer with my Sigma F84 angled kabuki brush. The angled shape of the brush
allows for me to get right in there under by cheekbone to carve out some
hollows. And because it’s a kabuki brush, it makes blending the line out really
easy. The pigmentation of the Hoola bronzer is great (as I’m sure everyone
knows) which means a little bit goes a long way. Also, the colour is a nice
matte brown without any sort of orange undertone.
And finally, my last favourite is my new Maybelline Better Skinconcealer in Light. It gives lovely coverage and is very creamy and easy to
apply, which means it’s great for highlighting the under eye area and
brightening the face. It also covers dark circles beautifully and feels really
light. It also doesn’t crease, which is a huge plus. I don’t really use it on
spot concealing, mainly just because I don’t like to spot conceal in the first
place, but it cover blemishes really well and stays there all day. And it’s
supposed to help improve the skin’s appearance. Hmm, stay tuned for that one.
That’s all for this month! Let me know what you’ve been loving and
I’d love to try it out. Until next time.
